When your baby is hungry, they're usually quick to let you know. But whether you're breastfeeding or formula feeding, you're likely on the hunt for the best baby bottles.

Here's the inside scoop: avoid buying too many of any one bottle at the beginning, says Jenelle Ferry, MD, a neonatologist and director of feeding, nutrition, and infant development at Pediatrix Medical Group in Tampa, Florida. Her suggestion? Experiment with a few different brands and see if your baby has a preference.

As a helpful rule of thumb, most babies should start with a slow flow, flexible nipple, especially if they're breastfeeding, Dr. Ferry says. "Using a nipple with a flow that is too fast may increase both the amount of milk your baby drinks, which can lead to overfeeding, and the amount of air he or she swallows, which can lead to fussiness or gas."

Additionally, you want a bottle that's easy to use and clean. "With a new baby, you'll be low on time and sleep, so it's important to pick a bottle you can easily assemble and fill," Dr. Ferry explains. "Also consider the ease of washing or transporting bottles, depending on how and where you will be using them," she adds.

Luckily, we've done the hard part for you and rounded up the seven best baby bottles, according to parents and a pediatrician. Cheers!
